Weekly Audit 1: October 18, 2026

This week was a big clean-up week across all four projects. We made things safer, simpler and more reliable, and added a few things you can see and use. Here is what changed, project by project.

GeoIntel

What changed

  • GeoIntel now runs on a proper production web server instead of the development one, so it handles more visitors at once and recovers better from problems.
  • We removed all the old AI-service code that was no longer used. The app is smaller and easier to maintain, and everything you see still works the same.

What we fixed

  • Tightened several behind-the-scenes checks and replaced the way the app proves it is allowed to talk to our database.
  • Wrote down every outside data source the app uses and what its usage terms are, so we can keep credit and licences in order.

What's next

  • Reviewing data-source terms in detail and keeping attributions up to date.

WikiHole

What changed

  • Added a README so anyone can set the project up and run it.
  • Tightened its security settings and added automatic checks that run on every change.

What we fixed

  • Removed an old online quiz service and now create quizzes on your device only.

What's next

  • Moving a few access checks from the browser to the server.

asix.live

What changed

  • You can now download a copy of your account data from the account page before deleting your account.
  • The privacy page now names every service that helps us run the site, including our email provider.
  • Contact emails now arrive reliably in our inbox, with separate addresses for general and privacy requests.

What we fixed

  • Hardened how the site protects pages from unwanted code.
  • Admin access is now controlled by an account setting instead of a fixed email address.
  • Payment notifications from Stripe are now retried automatically if something goes wrong on our side, so a payment is never silently missed.
  • Fixed a small formatting edge case on blog pages and added a setup guide for developers.

What's next

  • More polishing of the account pages.

Ascend

What changed

  • The main dashboard screen is now built from smaller, cleaner pieces. It looks and works the same, and is easier to improve safely.
  • Forum posts and comments can be reported to us (rolling out shortly).

What we fixed

  • Tightened site security headers and removed unused tools.
  • Updated the app's building blocks to the latest supported versions.

What's next

  • Finishing the report-a-post feature, and continuing to simplify the largest screens.

Wrapping up

Less code, fewer moving parts and clearer records of what we use. Thank you for following along, and see you next Sunday.
