GeoIntel Update 5/18/2026

Today's update focused on making GeoIntel feel like a live intelligence platform rather than a static dataset. We started by fixing a longstanding data issue where the app was only showing a fraction of the 224 crises due to a hardcoded 30-day filter that was wiping out all the historically backdated events. Once that was resolved, we shifted the crisis date distribution heavily toward 2024–2026, then clustered all 2026 events into the last 30 days so restoring the 30-day filter would give the globe a current, active feel without losing the historical timeline slider.

On the feature side, we built out two major additions. Search got a full autocomplete dropdown so as you type, it queries across all crises by title, country, or type, surfaces up to 8 results ranked by relevance and severity, and clicking any result both opens the crisis panel and smoothly animates the globe to fly to that location. The animation uses an eased arc that takes the shortest rotational path, so it feels polished rather than jarring. Export adds a "Export Intelligence Briefing" button to the Overview tab that generates a clean, print-ready document with a proper header, classification banner, metrics table, situation analysis, regional impact, and stakeholder list — styled for paper or PDF output.
